coming back to my home-town made me realize several things. one of them is - why I moved to London. today I have much clearer answer then the time I left. patriots of the country, please prepare to read my negative comments on our city Panevezys. a lot of you think that people leave ONE: because of money, TWO: because they think that it would just be easier to accomplish something if you live in England (or any other country). but. if you label people at least don't put the same label on each of us. my story has nothing to do with money or trying to make my life easier. yes, in London you have lots of possibilities. those possibilities are higher and better but it doesn't mean at all that it's gonna be EASY. as french writer Voltaire said 'with great power comes great responsibility. this is the biggest truth I've ever heard. I have all those possibilities alongside responsibilities. I'm glad I do because there I don't have to be lucky or have lots of money to actually achieve something that I want. there I know that everything will pay off if only I work hard towards it. of course I don't have any guarantees but who does? at the very least I get to do what I truly desire. Isn't that's what we all want?
while walking down the streets of city I remembered how insecure I used to feel, how grey and empty streets brought me depression, how reserved I became. my dreams used to be undervalued by others, they seemed so small and unreal. now when I'm back - nothing's changed. the city has lost it's soul. all intelligent youth would rather move to the capital or other country than stay here, in their native town. the city is craving for revolution. while there's minority of us who wants the change, I figured that I'd rather live my life now instead of waiting for others to catch up with the world. I may sound egoistic, and probably I do. but I don't really care. you know why? because I shouldn't be the only one who cares. remember how we used to be the biggest country in Europe? well, we will probably never be that big again in size but we can be big cultural wide, maybe economical wide? but nothing's gonna change unless majority change their attitude. you should know it's not only the government who can make a change. our country as well as people can be respected. however, I, personally, don't feel any respect right now. hopping for it to change someday though.
these are the fresh views on my native country. I'm always mad when people say that others immigrate because they're too weak to create a good life here. instead, they search for easier way to do that. I hope now you'll understand that there are plenty of reasons why we leave and that money is not always the case. for the record - money is not equals better life.
